Collaboration November 5th

Please brainstorm ways to introduce the IB Learner Profile in your classes and list your ideas below:
  • How could you teach students about these words in a meaningful way?
  • Putting up along with objectives on the board
  • Peer feedback in profile learner language
  • On posters in hallway pictures of students (getting caught for example being a risk taker)
  • Classroom management into student expectations - Great ideas for making LP visible

  • How could you facilitate connections between the Learner Profile and Language A curriculum?
  • Character study- using the profile language in classes
  • Journal writing: Reflection using profile language (EX: Find a time when you felt like you were a good inquirer)
  • Match students with character pictures (EX: Hitler, MLK match with profile learner vocab) - Sound like interesting activities to really get students engaged

  • Do you have any specific lesson plans you could use (or have used) to create a classroom culture that fosters the qualities of the IB Learner?
  • Mini- lesson: Kid friendly language posters with pictures, IB Learner profile cards (similar to what we did as a staff)
  • IB Learner Profile Passport with students: What type of IB learner am I? Love it! Would this be something we could incorporate throughout all classes (i.e. 1 passport good for anyone's class) or would you prefer it just in Language A?

  • Please see the IB Learner Profile folder in the Y drive (Teachers/All) to access Learner Profile materials for your classroom, hallway, etc.
